What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, a compound which is found in the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant.
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are any in a group of closely related compounds which include cannabinol and the active constituents of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are called phytocannabinoids, while cannabinoids naturally produced by the human body are called endocannabinoids which are processed through the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).
What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and what is CBD’s effect on the ECS?
The ECS is one of the most important physiologic systems involved in establishing and maintaining human health and promoting physical and mental wellness. Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells.
Does CBD have any psychoactive effects?
As dictated by US federal law, CBD oil and related legal products meet a strict, tested threshold for the absence of THC.
According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”
How do I know that your products are THC-free?
Hero Wellness CBD products are manufactured utilizing a stringent preparation and testing regime to ensure that our products are THC Free.
Our name and our reputation are at stake with each sale. We want you to have the purest CBD experience available, and we approach each step of the process with this end in mind.
- Our farmers use only approved hemp strains, grown in accordance with best practices and the law.
- The raw hemp is stored, dried, and milled according to approved processes.
- Extraction and separation. We then use proprietary methods to extract CBD from the hemp.
- At this stage, trace amounts of THC can be present, even in the most carefully grown and harvested product. So we take an additional step to refine it, removing THC and traces of other undesirable compounds.
- Third-party testing. Before releasing for sale, every product is tested by a third party, using state of the art equipment that replicates government-standard testing to verify all THC has been removed.
In the end, the quality of our business is the quality of our product. Our process reflects our commitment to quality.
Is CBD legal in my state?
Yes. Both the sale and consumption of CBD, including in various forms such as drops and CBD-infused products, are legal in all 50 states.
The US Farm Bill of 2018 made legal provisions for growing and selling industrial hemp and many products derived from it. Industrial hemp is a source of CBD and it contains trace amounts of THC (the psychoactive chemical that causes a “high” associated with smoking marijuana.) Specifically, legal hemp should contain less than 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis.
What are the different types of CBD?
CBD products are available in many different forms such as oils, edibles, topical creams, capsules, beverages, terpenes and pet products.
The products are defined by the 3 categories of cannabinoids found within them. These are Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum and CBD Isolate.
What is Full Spectrum CBD?
Full spectrum CBD contains all of the cannabinoids that are naturally occurring in the harvested hemp plant. This means that while the product has a high in CBD content, there are traces of other cannabinoids in the product, including very low amounts of THC.
Full spectrum CBD is positively associated with the “entourage effect” sought by some CBD users.
What is the “entourage effect”?
Users of full and broad spectrum CBD products receive a mix of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids instead of the pure CBD found in CBD isolate. This mix, containing mostly CBD but also with trace amounts of terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids, is generally considered to deliver a more effective experience.
This comes from understanding that each cannabinoid has different properties and different effects on the body. The “entourage effect” simply means that these components oils seem to work better together than if they were used separately.
What is Broad Spectrum CBD?
Broad spectrum CBD is much like full spectrum, except it has been processed to remove all of one specific cannabinoid: THC. Users still get a full experience and an entourage effect, but without the potential for negative side effects that some people experience from THC.
What is CBD Isolate?
CBD isolate begins as hemp derived CBD oil. Then, all of the plant’s natural compounds except for CBD are removed, leaving CBD as a pure crystalline powder.
Is it legal to carry CBD Hero Wellness products as I travel?
Yes! Because our products are derived from hemp legally grown under the Farm Bill, they contain less than 0.3% THC (and many of them contain no THC at all.) Thus, they are legal to transport in your luggage or carry on.
